Happy New Year!!!

Yes, it really was. Archer and I saw the old year out with dressing up, gin, dancing and lots of laughter. 2014...well...we celebrated that with hot, hot sex too. One of the joys of being in a stable relationship, a woman can take her time.

Unfortunately, it seems my liver currently hates me. It wasn't that I drank *that* much...it's just I drank more than I'm used to. This is Day 2 and I'm still feeling, shall we say, under the weather.

Partying like it's 1999 would be much better if I was still 29.

What you gonna do?

No regrets though. It was a damned good night.

I don't often get dressed up, my preference is comfort over style. But every so often, it's great fun to step outside of the 'normal' me and into 'sexy'. I spent all day getting ready: shaving, plucking, slathering and painting every inch of myself I could reach.

Archer stated he'd never had a trophy girlfriend before...and I just cracked and for the evening, became his trophy girlfriend. He paraded me round the party, proudly showing me off, plying me with lots of drink and making sure my wild dancing didn't land me on the floor. Damn Good Night!

Now that 2014 is settling in, I'm starting to think about my writing priorities and projects.

It's going to be a busy year.

New Year's Resolutions?

Hello lovelies, as 2013 draws to a close, I look back and can't believe what a busy, incredible and difficult year it's been.

Real life managed to interfere with my creative endeavours, but despite it all, I came through. My partner Archer and I are still talking, which is the main thing. How he put up with me in the summer, I'll never know. Hell, my cat still puts up with me and he has no patience with my bullshit.

So all in all, I am relieved 2013 is all done and dusted.

I'm thinking about 2014 and what I'd really like to achieve...more writing. A better balance between paid and unpaid work...or rather turning unpaid work into paid.

Becoming a full-time writer, capable of paying my bills on time and being able to buy a pot of face cream and a cup of coffee, is still my end-goal. I write for the love of it, but a writer must eat and pay the broadband charges and I'm certainly not going to apologise for that.

Ultimately, I'd just like to have the mental space to write more fun stuff. Writing erotica is fun. I get to indulge in my fantasies and invite other people to do so as well. Life is tough and I'm really not interested in drama, I'm far more intrigued by hot sex with dreamy partners.

You'll be seeing a lot more of me in 2014.

Until next time.

Out Now!

In case you thought I'd forgotten you...I'm sorry. I've been incredibly busy with the day job. The great news is that The Poetry of Three is out now!

How excited am I?

This is the cover. I love it. I know it's not the traditional erotica cover, but that's what I adore.

It's in digital format. You can get a copy via Amazon (click the linky) or via Xcite Books. If you like what you read I'd appreciate a review on either site.

I really hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Thanks

Rainy Saturdays...

...are perfect for daydreaming. Autumn has kicked in here in Norfolk and the last week has been peppered with rain, wind and cold. I've even put my heating on again, which I'm not at all happy about. But I'd much rather be warm, thank you very much.

Now that The Poetry of Three is soon to be published, I'm dreaming of other stories to get my teeth into. I'm wondering whether to dust the short story Anna and Brock off the shelf and expand it. They are such interesting characters and I confess I'm curious as to how they work it out.

I am a writer, who happens to publish erotica. I approach all of my work, regardless of what market it's for, with the same level of professionalism. It comes from being an avid reader. I read literary fiction and all kinds of genre fiction. Nothing annoys me more than bad genre writing. Books have been known to go flying across the room in my rage against the sloppiness of the writing. Just because a piece of writing is genre, doesn't mean the writer can get away with working less than 100% of their best for the reader.

I see my job as a writer is to give my readers an escape from their daily grind. My words are their doorways into my worlds and I want them to enjoy their stay.

Writing erotica is fun! I get to indulge in my love of the sensual and relationships and share. I think the length and breadth of consensual sex is so vast, there's so much to be explored and indulged. Relationships now can be so much more than one Alpha Male and one Beta Female. Adventurous sex doesn't have to be tawdry, or seedy, or only in the context of one-night stands.

Also, great sex isn't serious. I believe if you're not having a laugh, it's not great sex.

But then, that could be just me. And that's fine. If we were all the same and liked the same things, it would all get a bit dull.

Anyway, I can't wait for my work to be published to see what other people think. I really hope you enjoy it too! When I have a publication date, I will be shouting long and loud!

PS. I almost forgot, if you review erotica or are a keen erotic blogger, send me your URL and we can link up. My email's up on my profile. I'd love to hear from you.

Portia Black.02 - Reloaded

As the saying goes "I used to be indecisive, now I'm just not sure." After several goes, I decided to have a revamp. I'm a good writer of erotic stories, I am a rubbish sex blogger.

I suppose it comes from not being a reporter. Writing erotic stories requires me to delve into more than what I find appealing and desirable and more of what my readers enjoy.

Ultimately, I'm interested in characters who are a little bit different and this then feeds into my stories, because they don't behave in the way "normal" people expect. They have their own take on life. Each story I write is a dip into an exploration of these characters' sensuality and needs.

I hope you enjoy.

This re-vamp has come about ahead of the publication of my story The Poetry of Three, by Xcite Books. I can't tell you how thrilled I am at this! I will keep you updated and let you know when it's available.
